Yup and it’s sooo frustrating when it happens. I highly recommend that writers who are always being called away from writing by inane annoyances try to shift writing hours, They might be amazed at how much easier it is to write and to come up with better books that way. That’s when my fantasy world awakens and yields the best results. So I avoid getting zapped by working at night, usually between 10 p.m.

My writing powers are diminished by noises and daytime interruptions. The definition of Kryptonite (in the comic book world of Superman) is an alien mineral that has the property of depriving him of his powers. It’s like going to the store for some groceries but, on the way, stopping to chat with a neighbor, and then getting involved in something else and, in the end, losing track of what you originally wanted to pick up at the store. They don’t have a clear idea of how to develop their story that there’s a beginning, a middle, and an end, and they get sidetracked in sub-plots that don’t advance their story line. What is a common trap for aspiring writers? In fact, some male writers have admitted that they get so burned out when writing they become temporarily impotent The exhilaration, for me, always comes when I am past the halfway mark-it’s like reaching the peak of the mountain and then it’s downhill all the way. And doing good work, is always exhausting. That’s where self-publishing shines you can fly without an agent (who would cost you additional money) and write what you want to without restrictions and, at the same time increase your royalties by a huge number. They also stifle creativity by insisting, in many cases, that the authors they deal with write their books to a relatively short word count that doesn’t allow a good writer to really develop his or her story or characters. You conform to what they want they want and, in return, they give you a pittance for a royalty. Many traditional publishing houses have a reputation for being unethical when it comes to dealing with authors…especially new ones. What is the most unethical practice in the publishing industry? I remember reading this book as a young teenager and being overwhelmed by the setting of the novel, its great character development and, of course, the love story which had me biting my fingernails and hoping that Darcy and Elizabeth would have their HEA I still have that book and there are tear stains (along with some food crumbs) scattered throughout the pages.
